  1. Am trying to encode an avi file in TMPGEnc but it keeps putting it into the audio section instead of the video section nothing else is using the file.
    So any ideas please

  2. Maybe you have a DirectShow filter for that particular video compression but not a Video For Windows codec.

    You could use GSpot to try to identify the compression used in the AVI, and then install the proper codec.

    or,

    If the file plays OK in Window Media Player you could temporarily disable the AVI file reader in TMPGEnc. It should force it to go through directshow.

    Options / Environmental Settings / VFAPI Plugin tab, then uncheck the AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader, and AVI VFW compatibility Reader boxes.

    Remember to check the boxes again when your finished with this file.

    Could even be some damage in your source file.

  3. Make sure the "ES - Audio Only" tab isn't checked at the bottom of the screen where you load the file. Set it to "System - Video + Audio" IF that doesn't work, unisnstall ffdshow if you have it.... that util has only caused me problems w/ tmpgenc.
