I get this message when I try to play on power dvd.
Power dvd does not support the current display mode.
DDraw mode is the recomended mode to restore.....
1. close other apps
2.Lower res.
3. update drivers
I tried the suggestions given by power dvd but none works.
Any suggestions

What does it say in control panel/display/settings for resolution and color quality?

OK do you know what an overlay is?
Chances are its not the lack of megabytes of acceleration per se, but
the lack of support of DirectDraw technology that includes an overlay
or KEYED graphics signal sota like picture in picture
(the desktop is the big picture the dvd screen the small one)...
A quick fix:download a freeware DVD player for your windows os that
doesn't depend on this technique of drawing the screen
this is
WWW.videolan.org
who have freeware player for DVD that doesn't overlay
otherwise try WIN DVD or the newSONIC CINEPLAYER
(the old "cinemaster" with a new look)
the final step: check the brand of VIDEO CARD in work machine and buy software player from GRACHICS CARD MAKER or chip if theres no card but a motherboard graphic integrated solution -
I use a Nvidia Quadro4 380XGL card I think this has 64Mb memory and a HP workstation xw6000 with 1Gb Ram and 2.8GHz Xeon processor. It's a cad station and I mainly work with mechanical desktop and Proengineer wildfire.
I can not get WIN DVD to work either.
My screen resolution is 1152x864 and 32bit color quality.
I will try the freeware player you suggested.
All the best / Lasse
