  1. Hello!

I just made a dvd-r with a bunch of videoclips. Toast makes this nice menu and everything but I can't play the dvd from the first to the last video, it always comes back to the menu after playing a video. Its kind of boring cause sometimes I just want to run the dvd from begining to end. Is there a way I can have a "play all" function with Toast 6?

Has anyone experienced this or is it just a problem with my standalone dvd player?

    Thanks in advance!

Toast does not have this feature. It treats each clip dragged into its Video window as an individual movie that must be selected in the title menu.

It does the same thing with VCDs also. Apparently Roxio created Toast 6 in a vacuum and not in any real world I know.

  4. thanks for the feedback, thats terrible. im ultra-upset with toast 6, not only it re-encodes every video even if it isnt needed, but he doesnt have this play all function. also, custom menu screens would be good. lets see what happens with future versions of toast...

so what are my alternatives? dvd studio pro is far too complicated. shall i stick with idvd or are there any good alternatives avaliable?

CaptyDVD has automatic and continuous play options. It comes with the ADS Instant DVD for Mac and you can get it with a LaCie DVD drive (at an extra cost). LaCie also sells it separately for $145!. But the good news is CaptyDVD 2.0 will be included with LaCie's soon-to-be released Fast Coder box that converts DV to MPEG2 at nearly real-time speed.

The Toast 6.0.3 update fixes that little "feature" of the original Toast 6.
