  1. having problems all the sudden with "power calibration error" message when I try to burn dvd+r. worked fine for months then it just stopped one day. tried different media(tdk,hp)no luck. I used a couple of the tdk discs before with success. tried Pinnacle Instant Copy (the program I use all the time) and also tried Sonic MyDVD that came with the computerand both programs gave the same error message.after 3 hours on the phone with Dell still no dice. they want me to do a complete re-install to bring my system to out of box condition.but that is my last resort.it is a nec 4X burner running on a Dell 4600 2.8 ghz with 1 gig of ram. any help would be great.thanks

  2. i had this problem myself b4 and to cure it i had to reinstall the ide's. without knowing what ide drivers you need im not 100% but if you just delete them on xp anyway it should just reinstall them back with default drivers / settings after you reboot.

def worth trying b4 the factory disk neway. worked for me when my plextor was doing the same with pwr calibration errors.
It appears that the CPU was operating so fast that it began to execute instructions before they arrived. This execution of future instructions created a small tear in space-time itself through which part of the cpu passed into a parallel universe
