  3. I know that adres but link on that page links to www.optorite.com and file with 2.17 firmware isn't there anymore.

I'm MSI DR4-A owner and I'm not satidfied with MSI 2.23 and 2.30 firmware, I need 2.17 firmware. I got my DR4-A with 2.17 and I think these wersion can be the same. Verison optorite 2.23 is the same asi MSI 2.23 but 2.30 isn't. Strange.

  4. OK, thats it, what I did:

    1. I instaled MSI 2.23D firmware.
    2. I instaled optorite 2.30E firmware (for dd0201!!!)

Now I have no problems with reading CD, DVD or burning.

  5. Glad you solved it.

    Sorry the link was useless.

    I'm using DD0201 fw2.30E on a DD0203 myself.

It flashed better (i.e. successfully) than the DD0203 version and the led display is much more pleasing.

Almost purchased this drive til I read the posts!!!

    My standalone's only read -R!!

    HD-BURN is a must have!!!

    Firmware v.2.30!!!

    Are these problems resolved?

Has anyone tried Memorex -R 4x?

If so, what is the write speed?

  7. My stand-alones only read -R as well. All of the compatability problems appear to be resolved on -R with v 2.30 (touch wood) !

HDBURN is a good "idea". Have a look here to see some of the problems with it in practice.

  9. I use firmware version 233 which I flashed using dos.
I have tested with all formats and use mainly dvd+r and HDBurn.

I noticed that Optorite has 250e firmware which is a windows exe file.

    Has anyone tried it.
