I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with this card. Seems like a decent card with hardware encoder for both audio/video. Im wondering about quality and 3rd party application compatability if the included software is crap. Thanks

Edit: From the box on Newegg for the card it appears it uses the Conexant CX23416

    Yuan MPG600 PCI Any good?
Evidently know one has experience with it.

Have you looked it up in the Capture Card section on the left? For comments from owners.

If it's not there, chances are no members use one.

added - you must not have, because if you read the 2 replies there you probably would not even want to ask more. :c* Does not sound good.

There. I've done your research for you. Please send a quarter by email. :c)

Since it's an Mpeg only card you are screwed if you want to cap AVI. An ATI AIW 7500 costs about the same as one of these and lets me cap both Mpeg and AVI (and I get that nice wireless remote to boot). So, what am I missing? Though the ATI software is sometimes a bitch to install, I recently upgraded from MMC 7.5 to MMC 8.5 without any problems at all, so it can't be the software or drivers THIS time...

The thing with ATI AIW card is that it software encoding and you need major CPU power who care about AVI when DVD disc are done with MPEG2 anyway and beside that you can do some cool thing with a hardware encoder like run on low end Intel P2 233 CPU and thanks to SageTV you do some killer thing.
    Multiple Tuners on same PC.
Multiple Tuners on Multiple PC as in Network Encoding now that Cool.
Ho by the way ATI now has Hardware encoder (ATI E-Home Wonder) in fact it same chip that used by folllow card listed below.

Looks like an card so far. Im worried about compatability with 3rd party apps? I mainly the need card for capturing a few home movies (Birthdays etc...) to DVD-+R. But i would like to go into PVR type stuff since it would be easier and cheaper than buying a tivo set-top. I have programs like Cyberlink Powerdirector, Ulead DVD Workshop which have capturing abilities. Or if u have suggestions on programs to look at that arent too expensive.

Well this all I ever use oj213
SageTV for Schedulering TV show like Movie, TV Episodes, etc, etc off Dishnetwork and I use SageRecoder for capturing VHS Tape, etc, etc.
My DVD Authoring is Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2
My MPEG editor is Womble MPEG2VCR
And also use DVD Shrink when thing just will fit the disc which come in very handly.
As long your VHS tapes are in very good working order there shouldn't be any problem but like things VHS tape can and will be a major plain in the butt in fact we just talk this on SHSPVR forum.

Why would you be shocked that ATI is not reinventing the wheel by using some encoder chip found in a lot of other boards made by companies that came AFTER ATI? ATI would use whatever is best for their product line. For goodness sakes, it's a Canadian company run entirely by Chinese. What makes you think they wouldn't be getting stuff from out of China? Like I said, why reinvent the wheel when the parts are already there?

I wonder how the new Hauppauge WinTV-PVR2 USB2.0 (958) compares to its PCI cousin the WinTV PVR-350? Are there any drawbacks to using USB 2.0 and do all the software applications that work with the PCI card, work with the USB version?

There is a special offer on the USB version at my local retailer for £95 ($176). The PCI card costs £122 ($227).

I'm sure SHS will know if there are any differences between the two and which is the best one etc.
