recently purchased a pioneer 107D dvd burner but had a problem with the burner on my machine so I returned it to the supplier and got a replacement. But the replacement still has exactly the same problem.

I can't burn any dvd-r discs at 4x. Whenever I try to burn a dvd at 4x the burn freezes at any where between 5% and 20% the light on the burner turns off and the burning software freezes although windows keeps running ok I have to reset the computer to gain access back to the dvd burner and remove the offending failed disc.

I have tried all media brands Princo, Digi Media & Ritec G04 DVD-R 4x.
and software packages. Clone DVD. Roxio Cd Creator 6. Nero 6.3.0.3 and dvd shrink.3.1
    All with same freezing results.

What could be wrong please help I don't want to go wasting any more dvds

Try switching these drives around. I have my 107D as a slave and it works great. There are varying opinions on this, but that's always worked for me...
