    arent those just called mini-DVD's???

miniDVD is a DVD video written onto a CD-R(W) instead of a DVD disc. miniDVD is also sometimes called cDVD. A miniDVD only fits about 15 minutes of DVD quality video on a 650 MB CD-R(W). Not many DVD players will play miniDVD - see the DVD Players miniDVD list for compatible players

I could see the point of miniDVD/cDVD back in 2001, when DVD burners were priced for the Donald Trumps of the world, and a blank DVD cost more than lunch.

Yes I know not everyone can afford a DVD burner still, but come on ... the cash for that pricey Mac came from somewhere ... stroke the well once more and get a DVD burner. Quality media is like $1 now.

    The POSTER should be told
THE TRICK is to write in UDF (universal disc format) 1.02
this is the file system on which DVD VIDEO is written

IF the files written in this format constitute a dvd "volume"
    (eg 2 folders one VIDEO_TS one AUDIO_TS)
then you have a cDVD or miniDVD (not to be confused with min DVD blanks that are 8CM not standard round discs)

GALACTICA ITS ALL SINCE christmas THAT WE'RE GETTIN
    TDK 2X
    FUJI 4X
    and
    UGH MEMOREX 4X
for a dollah a piece at recent STAPLES and BEST BUY mega outfits

Yes, I get TDK 2x media from Best Buy for $1 per disc. galactica, we live in the same area, so you should be shopping in similar places!

[Update:] Let me state that it looks like the last time I bought blank discs I caught some sort of sale (TDK discs for $1 each in bulk). The last set of Apple discs I bought are now completely unavailable on store.apple.com ($1.60 each in packs of 5; 2x), and the TDK discs are back to $2 each in the downtown DC Staples. Oh well... I'll check Best Buy in Pentagon City next.

I suspect that the original poster knows what a miniDVD is. He's asking if it's possible to trick a DVD player into seeing the CDR as a DVD disk, not just the file structure. Can a CDR be recognized as a DVD disk on any DVD player, not just the few that recognize miniDVD. Can you bitset a CDR to burned as a DVD-ROM?

no there is no such trick...sorry

the critical thing is not to make a data disc in MAC or MAC & PC
format, but to get UDF filesystem onto CD MEDIA
    can TOAST 6 do this?
