Nero 6 Failed to Finalize Disc

Ok here is my situation. I shrink the dvd with dvd shrink and I drag all the files in the Video_ts folder in Nero and then I burn the dvd. The burning is fine but when it is trying to finalize the dvd it suddenly failed. Can anyone tell me why?

hace you tried playing the dvd anyways? i had that happed a few times but the dvd still played fine in the dvd player.

as Ghoster says....sometimes this happens, yet the dvd seems to play fine.

a couple of possibilities....other then a hiccup by your computer:

Have you turned off the auto-insert notification for all your dvd/cd drives?
Nero has a conflict with that feature and sometimes a 'failure to finalize' is the result.

also....if you are burning a dvd that has the maximum amount of data possible, somtimes, on cheaper media, the final bit of burning on the outside edge of the disk may have some errors. I've also noticed that this can happen (rarely) with RW disks whereas R disks burn fine with the same VIDEO_TS folder.

Whether or not this applies to your issue, I don't know.

I just got Nero 6 Ultra 6.3.0.3 and all of a sudden I couldn't burn DVDs. I had been using Nero Burning ROM 5.5.9.0 with no problem. It would start the burn and just .....stop .....doing anything. The drive status light was still green, the progress indicator wouldn't move, but it looked normal and was at some percentage of the burn. The app would never time-out. The drive light was green,however. On my burner that means the drive is idle. The discs were coasters. I figured it was because I have my IDE burner in a firewire external enclosure and I am using a laptop.

I suggest you do what I did if nothing else works ....go back to 5.5.9.0 at least for the burning app. Version 6 seems like little more than a skin change from 5.5 anyways. I can still use Vision Express and all the other little tools that are started from Smart Start.
