DVD9 to regular DVD movie

Hi all,
I borrow some movies from my friends, but they are DVD9, and I can not watch it with my regular DVD at home. How can I copy and burn it to regular DVD so I can watch them in my house ?

Almost all commercial DVDs are DVD9. If your player doesn't play DVD9, I'd take it back immediately!

Sounds like your mixing up regular and copied DVDs. All DVd players should play regular discs unless the player is *very* old. (There were problems with initial player and seamless branching discs). If you are really asking how to "backup" DVDs for your friends, then that's another story. Search backup and you'll find what you're looking for. I am sure most users on this forum have cpoied DVDs they don't own, but you don't have to make up a story to ask a question.

About 90% of commercial DVDs are DVD-9, they should certainly play on any player, all you should notice is a slight pause when you get to the layer change.

If I lent someone a disc and they copied it, I would like to think they would pay me 50% of whatever I paid for it...



Definitely sounds like you need a new DVD player - yours sounds well and truly knackered.

Hum, my friend went to China and bought some Chinese movie, on the DVD it say DVD-9, I can watch it on my PC, but can not watch it with my Sony and old Panasonic DVD players, I just check with my new DVD the one has free Region, it works.. If on the DVD have regularDVD sign then it work with my Panasonic, but if it has DVD9 then it wont work, is it because region free ? I am new that's why I come here to ask ? and I just wonder how to back up DVD so I can have the one I like. I can not fly to China to get one for me. , Will you for $0.75 movie :P ? and hey, I want to buy his movie for $1.0 but he tell me what your burner is for ? hummm ... will you take a dollar or keep your movie for $0.75 8)
To some friend who dont trust me , why I have to make up story ? , and why I have to BS with you ?

May be I ask a dump question, but to me, it never hurt to ask because I will gain something and learn something..... like you yell at me BS to stop me for asking haha , now please let me know what you know

P/S: About how to back up DVD, I know how to back up and burned more than 50 using Clone DVD or DVD Express. Yes, but why I have to back up a disk and only can see it on PC and only one region free player.

If you can play the disk ok on your PC, just copy it with DVD Shrink.
That will make it region free

I tied copy it using DVD Shirnk 3.15 and burn it with Nero 6, but it also did not work with my Panasonic. Should I down load DVD free region and try it ?

No point in doing that, if your PC can read/play it ok.

It may be that your old Panasonic is choosy about media.
If you are not already, try using a Grade A Ritek disk, as these are the most compatible with standalone players.

im a little confused, but here goes -

It sounds like the disc isnt region free. Borrow some other disc from your mate and see if any of thoses work.

dvd9 means its a double layer disc - nothing to do with region.

If you have backed up 50 dvds proir and this one dosnt work. what are you doing different? I dont know if Clone DVD or DVD Express remove region coding. DVDShrink will.
