  1. Was just wondering if it's possible to mount a virtual CD/DVD drive with the contents of a directory on Windows? I know image mounters exist, I use Nero ImageDrive, but I've come across a need to do something simmiler, but with a directory.

    Thanks.

It used to be possible to mount a subtree on a drive letter with assign
It was a DOS thing. It still won't look like a CD though

    No--use:
    Code:
    SUBST.exe [drive1: [drive2:]path]
    SUBST drive1: /D

drive1: Specifies a virtual drive to which you want to assign a path.
[drive2:]path Specifies a physical drive and path you want to assign to
                     a virtual drive.
/D Deletes a substituted (virtual) drive.

Type SUBST with no parameters to display a list of current virtual drives.
If your subst.exe isn't in a recognized path, you'll have to type the full path to it [ e.g. C:Windows\Command\subst.exe].

This little-known DOS feature STILL WORKS in all versions of Windows (just tried it). 8)

Sorry about that . Assign isn't even close to subst.
