  1. Hi im having problems burning a particular DVD, the disc is fine until the last 10 min or so when it starts to break up and freeze, ive tried 3 discs and it always happens at the same point of the disc, ive tried 2 burning tools. Any ideas what could be causing this? Could it be my DVD Burner? Ive burned this disc before with no problems.

  2. It is probably the media.

the disc is fine until the last 10 min or so when it starts to break up and freeze,
Actually, it is 99.9% the media. Cheaper (and even non cheap) media have thiner layer of dye on the outer edge. Change the app youy are using to burn with to not burn to the edge of the dvd. Recommend less than 4200.

  3. So because the disc is almost full (4.4 i think) that could be causing the problem? What if i try and shrink the size a little may that help?

Also if its 99% the media any recommendations? I currently use Ritek discs which ive had no problems with until now.

Well if you are using Ritek then I doubt it's the quality of the disc (Riteks are very good in my experience).

What exactly is the problem? Does it burn fine? From what I understand, your disc burns fine, it's just that when you go and play it it's all choppy. If you are converting a Divx or Xvid to DVD, then maybe you have some bad frames or something. Use DivFix or DivXRepair to check for the bad frames before encoding with TMPGEnc.

If you are ripping an existing DVD that play correctly, then I don't know what your problem is.
    Good luck.

  5. Yeah the discs i use are Ritek and they've been excellent before. the disc burns fine (using Nero) then when i play it it gets choppy towards the end and freezes too. Its a straight DVD im burning thats been ripped using DVD Decryptor.

I tried reducing the size and that doesnt help.

Im thinking could it be a problem with my burner? Ive had the odd cyclic reduncey error, but if that was the case would it be choppy all the way through and not just near the end?

    Any more suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
