  1. I just bought my nec nd-2500a dvd writer brand new.
I connect it up. It recognizes legite dvd's so i can play them. If i insert blank media such as datawrite red (v2) this media has been tested by my source (www.blankdiskshop.co.uk) It doesn't seem to recognize it. In my computer, when a blank disk is inserted, the icon changes to "cd-drive" and has a cd icon saying dvd-r. I've tried many different software but it doesnt have it. When i open nero, you can select cd, dd cd, or dvd. It will only allow me to select cd.
All the aspi's in the world have been installed, but it won't recognize it.

Pleae help as i want my writer to work!!!

  2. First... lots of people have problems with this piece of junk, including me

The only software that would write to my nec 2500 a was Nero 6.03

The other problem is some of the necs have problems with Ritek media., some suggest only using Taiyo Yuden

Finally, even if you get this POS to write a disk, it often cannot read it

You can read about all the problems

  4. That's the odd thing about it, some people post no problems, others have endless problems, luck of the drw I guess ( or inconsistent production techniques)

I sent mine back for a replacement, and will try the replacement with other media

BTW, the folks art cdfreaks say Memorex uses diferent manufacturers for their disks, some of which work with the NEC and others which do not
