  1. Hi folks

    I've a number of DivX files that I want to burn to DVD.

    I'm using TMPGEnc Plus (the DVD (NTSC).mcf template) to encode them to MPEG-2 files. These .mpg files play perfectly, both video and audio.

    I then burn them to a DVD-R in NeroVision Express. The resulting DVD plays fine on some players on the PC, but not all. My standalone doesn't play any audio when viewing them. I've had success playing DVD-Rs created by, for example, Pinnacle Studio 8 which came with my camcorder.

    Can anyone give me any pointers, please?

  3. what you can do is demux the audio from the avi file and convert it to ac3.

    use virtualdub or goldwave to demux and convert to 48000 mhz. save the audio file as a wave file and then use ffemggui to convert the wave file to ac3.

    I use virtualdub for this but a lot of people say it's better to use goldwave.

    open the avi file in vdub
    -click on streams=>streams list
    -right-click on the stream you want and select full processing
    -right-click on the stream again and select conversion
    -if the file is already at 48000 mhz, leave it alone, if not then select 48000 and click on ok. Save the file as wave.
    -once the file is done
    -use ffemggui to convert the file to ac3

    -when you author your dvd, use the ac3 audio instead of the one that it defaults to.

  6. basically the problem is MP2 audio is not a standard format and not all players play it. AC3 is a standard, but FFMPEG GUI will not make completely compliant files so test your result on your DVD player. Pioneers tend to have the most problems with it.
