Yup. I just recently joined this forum, however I too am not a newbie to this site. I have been using the guides here for years ever since it was VCDhelp.com. I see people posting the same questions for which there are many guides here written. For those of you who are doing this, please learn how to use the search functions.

    Peace.
    Out.

What do you want people to do, beg?
This forum is about sharing information, not hoarding it and releasing information if forced.
I suppose you'd be happier if we closed the forum and replaced it with a search box, right?

    This is a FORUM http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=forum

    Dictionary definition :-

    1) a)The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
    b) A public meeting place for open discussion.
    c) A medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper or a radio or television program.
    2) A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.
    3) A court of law; a tribunal.

This is a place where we talk and discuss and help each other.

Think of the diversity of the general public...
clever people, intelligent people, thorough people, slow people, lazy people, experienced people and newbies. You will get ALL types of people ALL of the time.

This is no reason to discriminate against the lazy or similarly inclined ( those that cant be bothered to search or read the guides).

Best to point them in the right direction (guides etc) for their next query and help them the best you can for the present question. This is especially true if they have asked a senisble and polite question.

    Of course asking;
'How do I copy my DVD?'
is daft and asking for trouble, but still a nudge or pointer towards the guides or suitable resources is the best thing to do.

If you dont want to help lazy people then that is your prerogative.

If you dont dont want to help, dont post and let those that want to spread and share their knowledge and wisdom post and assist those that are less experienced. Which is of course why they are asking in the first place.

I havent been on this site for long, but i have recieved a lot of very useful advice and guidance from members and the guides, and i have already helped others.

    I want to help others.

    Each to their own.

Some people (and I know a few) should be made to read this every week.
zworg2, you might have a username I don't understand but you talk complete sense.

Do a google search on punctuation, then post back.

  10. Grammar. Spelling. Punctuation. Who needs it!

Don't confuse lazy people with self-conscious people. Sometimes people want help and they are so fearful of getting flamed they don't express themselves well.

And we can be really good at flaming people.

This has been discussed a lot. I remember when I burned my first vcd, I had plenty of questions and while I researched, read tutorials, and tried to fix the prolems myself, I realzied that I did not have nearly as much experience as people over here and posted. My problem was resolved very quickly.

Forums are for people who have questions(unless you're in off topic and then its just for fun ). They're meant to help others and if you're experienced, share your wisdom. Someone out there may benifit from your comments/suggestions.

I read guides and searched the forums here for answers to my questions for months when I first found this site. It's true that just about everything has been answered many times over or had a guide speciffically created for it....if only people would spend the time to look.

That said, just 'cuz I'm the type that has a stack of technical manuals in the john for reading material don't mean everybody is

Everybody was a noob at one point, so I don't mind helping somebody if I can. Who knows, maybe the person you help can show you or someone else a thing or two.....that's what these forum jobbers are supposed to be all about, right?

    Or not.
