I have a bunch of VOB files that I would like to build into a DVD. This is what I have tried.
I paid for Toast 6 Ti hoping it would do what I want. In the video tab I can drag my VOB files and Toast seems like it understands them. It even displays the message "MPEG and AC-3 audio will remain unchanged". But when I select "Save as disk image", Toast crashes.
I then demuxed the VOB files and converted the audio from ac3 to aiff. I am then able to use Toast to build a DVD disk image but I could not figure out how to set chapters. With the menu button off Toast puts everything in one chapter. With the menu button on, you get a button for each video file, but you must select each from the menu in order to view it. I want chapters (or scenes) that will play back sequentially without going back to the menu for each and it would be nice if pressing the >| button on the DVD controller would skip you to the next scene.
So I tried MissingMpegTools to build my DVD. I found that vcdxgen would allow me to select a single VOB file and build that into a DVD just fine. But when I checked the "multi" box, vcdxgen only accepts a direcotry of mpg files. I even tried renaming my VOB files to mpg and vcxgen will actually build them into a DVD image, with each input file in a separate chapter, but only the first chapter has sound. All the subsequent chapters have no sound.
Next I tried demuxing my VOBs and using "mplex" to mux them back into an mpg file. Mplex did not like the ac3 audio file that BBdemux produced, it claimed it was unrecognizable. So I tried converting it with mAC3dec into a few different formats but "mplex" did not like any of them. So I can't use this method.
Anyone know of a tool that I can use to build a DVD image from my collection of VOB files? I would like for each VOB input file to play sequentially and it would be nice to be able to skip to the next scene (VOB input file) by pressing >| on the DVD controller. Will "sizzle" allow me to do this?
Any help appreciated.

Sizzle 0.1 is great for this
Sizzle 0.5 will bump you back to the main menu each time a video set ends
you can easily demux the files and add them sequentially to sizzle 0.1 then use the chapter tab to add your chapter marks across the time code
incase you dont have it, im hosting sizzle 0.1 at Here
