If the DVD is less than 4.37 GB you can "easily" use any dvd ripper and use its dvd backup function, like Smartripper. Then "just" burn the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD in UDF or UDF/ISO format.

  3. there seems to be some confusion over this no you cant just ripp the video ts folder and then burn
it will only work on pc not stanalone
if you want it to work on standalone you have to import the video ts folder into a software prog such as gearsoft dvd pro which will then build it back to dvd format ready to burn as when its ripped and burnt as data dvd its format is wrong
if dvd is over 4.7 which all new are you need to ripp the film only if its under 4.7 when ripped you then reauthor it then burn to dvdr
if its over 4.7 which most will be when ripped you have to reencode then reauthor then burn

daren b: so I cant just take the VIDEO_TS folder and burn in Nero using DVD UDF format? if so can you please describe the differences.

algonon: if the film is over 4.7 you can either cut out something or use 2 dvdrs or reencode it. I dont have any guides for it but all methods are kinda complex.
