  1. Currently using DVD decrypter my ripping speeds seem somewhat low. When using my Sony DDU1621 DVD-Rom most of the files start around 2.5x and get up to around 5x by the end of the 1gb chunks. I would guess the average is a little over 3x. When using my Plextor 708A it is slightly faster, around an average of 4x (again slow to start, faster near the end of the 1gb chunks). System specs: Barton 2800+, 1024mb PC3200ram, 120gb 7200rpm WD Hard drive...NTFS format.

I would prefer to rip with my DVD-Rom drive, and have read that most people seem to rip around 5-10x..currently it takes me about 20-25minutes to rip a full DVD-9. Both drives are definately in DMA, and I tried the holding eject button trick with the 708A with no real difference.

Any suggestions to increase my ripping speed?

Only way I can see to increase your ripping speed would be to get a new DVD-ROM. Lite-On and Toshiba's are the fastest for ripping.
