    I am trying to install the latest version of TMPGENC. apparently, the older version (s) need to be uninstalled first, but somehow the computer does not get this done. By now, the System/Software page shows two installed, identical TMPGENCs but (i) they do not work and (ii) I can not uninstall them. As far as I can tell, the registry seems clean. Help anyone?

    When I update, and I am sure I do not need the previous version, I simply install the update to the same directory.

    I would gladly do that, however, the install program for the new version automatically does some checks and turns up with the error message that the previous has not been completely uninstalled yet.

    Check to see if there is a TMPGEnc selection in your Start-->All Programs menu. See if it has an uninstall function. Select it and see if it can find the rest of your installed program.
