  1. I have a SVCD download that I cannot open in TMPgenc as it says it is unsupported, I have tried increasing the direct reader option but that doesn't make any difference.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

    Thanks

  2. Well, first I suggest that you copy the AVSEQxx.MPG file(s) from your SVCD to your hard drive for fasting file reading access. The file(s) are in the \MPEG2 directory of the SVCD. Note: Movie files from VCD/SVCD are NOT standard MPEG-1/MPEG-2 because they were modified for VCD/SVCD authoring (VirtualDubMod detects this). You may want to convert these files to standard MPEG usin IsoBuster or VCDGear for more compatiblity with video software in general.

TMPGEnc is a great product, but it sometimes has problems opening movie files. So, you can try to open the .MPG files with VirtualDubMod, DVD2AVI, or AVISynth. All of these can understand MPEG-2 video and AC-3/Dolby audio and MPEG audio. I think the first choice here is the easiest/simplest and AVISynth is the most complex. See the graphic screenshot of VDM below. Check the "Tools" section of this website to get the software. Check the "Guides" section of this website for info.

After opening the SVCD/MPG file, what do you want to do with it? Convert?

Also look on these websites for more info:
