I noticed that dvd-r dvd's are alot cheaper than their counter part.
Is this becasue they are inferior to dvd+r's?

It used to be that DVD+R was more compatable with set top players, but most machines now can read either one. There are a few minor differences between the two formats, but neither is inferior to the other in the quality of the finished disc. Prices have equalized also, and most stores seem to sell either one of them for the same price.

Buy a DVD+R and a DVD-R from the same company (brand). Burn the same movie on both disc and watch them on the same tv playing from the same dvd player. Then you can answer the question yourself.
