I've got a bunch of old .avi files (cartoons mostly) that I compressed using DivX 3.11 Low. If I recompress them with a later DivX version (5.1.1), keeping the same bitrate, will it make a difference in quality?
They're pretty smooth and noiseless because of the filtering, but I like the later DivX versions ability to slow the encoding so that they come out as best as possible (although, I'm not sure - is the Smoothness/Crispness slider in 3.11 the same thing, and if so, what's an ideal setting for that?)
Thanks.
