Oh dude, I am so sorry, man...
I didn't mean to mislead you or anything, but the crack I got was not for an ATI card, as I have never owned an ATI card. I own a Matrox Marvel G400-TV, which they do haev MacroVision cracks for...
    Sorry!

  2. Actually, for playing back regular VHS video tapes a S-VHS VCR will be no different then a regular VCR. Only tapes recorded in S-VHS mode will look better. Also, for capturing VCD I have seen no or very little difference between S-Video and composite video out. (Composite video is NOT the antenna cable, but the RCA video cable). I actually prefere composite because the video look a bit sharper because of the filtering done. However, S-Video normally look cleaner with less noise (and chroma edge noise). For DVD and SVCD captures, S-Video is better. However, if you see a huge difference between S-Video and composite video when capturing VCD, there is something else going on. There is virtually no difference between S-video and composite video when going to VCD. Also, a VCR with a built-in TBC might not help you out if you have vertical glitches in the video. I found this out the hard way. Only an external full frame TBC will fix vertical problems with poor VHS video tapes. The cheapest external TBC is around $220 (a plug-in PC card).

i agree. i work at a small tv studio and we use super vhs recorders. if u put a regular vhs tape in them, they will play at regular vhs quality. they will only play super vhs quality if a tape has been recorded in super vhs mode. as for the s-video output (not to be confused with s-vhs, i might add) if the tape is crappy to begin with, an s-video output won't make that much of a difference. it only improves quality if the tape is good quality. i hope this clears up some stuff.
