do you really plan on burning 90 and 99 min cd-r's? if not, i would suggest the 2500 for its quality burns and price.

Can many CD-Roms and CD/DVD players read 90/99 min CDs? Why the need to burn those.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
I dont need the DVD writer to burn 90 minute CD-rs but I might need to burn a movie that is longer than 90 minutes. I could care less if it burns cd-rs at all. i have a cd-r burner already.

I take it you've realised that a movie that goes for 90 minutes doesn't necessarily take 90 minutes of AUDIO space allotted on a CD...

Is this a joke?
Length of video on a DVD is dependant on the bit-rate. The higher the bit-rate, the shorter the length of video stored and vice versa.Regards,

Come on be easy, we forget that we were newbie’s at one time. Like its been stated the total amount of video that can be put on a DVD depends primary on the bit-rate of the video as well as the audio format.

Excuse the noob question. I have been focused on what hardware I wanted to buy rather than what the exact procedures are to record dvds. Because of this I asked a noob question.
I know the answer now and the thread can be removed before flaming starts.

I am not afraid to admit I am a newbie. I have not gone by time on cd's for a long time. I saw the time on these new DVD+R's were 120min. I still don't know exactly why the put time on them if nothing goes by them.

Oof...ok. If you put the dvd in a standalone dvd recorder (one that you hook up to your tv), it will be able to burn 120minutes of video/audio on it. And that, also, depends on what setting you choose on the standalone recorder.
**ALL DVD'S HOLD THE SAME AMOUNT OF DATA!** (unless its a double-sided or a dual-layered one)-Yar, matey!- -
Or unless its a dvd-ram or maybe an 8cm dvdr..
