DVD burned but will not playback

I used Nero Express 2 to burn a dvd last night. I chose to have a basic menu however this morning I tried to play it back and just got the menu.

In my pc it froze on the menu and on my standalone DVD player, it showed the menu and nothing further.

What have I done wrong?????

Do you have a program like WinDVD or PowerDVD? If you do, you can open your compilation right off the hard drive and see if they work. If it doesn't work right, then it's a problem with the compilation itself (like the link being invalid or not even there). Have you had this problem with any other disc you've made?

Never had the problem before but its the first time I've used Nero. Was using AVI files copied from my DVD rom drive as a source to be burned to a dvd+rw on my external dvd rewriter. It did not play on WinDVD - only showed the menu.

My Brother is having the exact same problem and now I am having a similar one where the burn in Nero 6 is successful but the DVD freezes at near the end of the film - suddenly started occurring after over 100 successful burns!

I am searching for a cause but have found that using a DVD-RW works fine as does recording a film that is significantly smaller than the capacity of the DVD (eg 3.6gb).

Any further thoughts from anyone?

Perhaps you are right - but for me at least I have recorded 100 perfectly with the same media and only in the last week had problems - do you think that the media is unreliable or could it just be making the whole process that much more fragile?

Could of just been the one dvd or a few in the spindle or pack,ive burned 50 straight and get maybe 1 bad burn.
