  1. I have a Lite On 811S and lately the buffer on the PC and DVD-R itself has been going down then up and so forth, when I first got the writing it burnt DVD's in Nero and DVD Decrypter fine with the buffer staying at 100% the whole time. What could be causing this? I have updated the firmware since having this, its getting annoying now because the burn speed drops down to as little as 2x from 4x.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

P.S I am using the same *Media *Recording Software and *PC

    Thanks

  2. The *EXACT* same thing happened to me yesturday. I am not sure what caused it (maybe a M$ update?) but I ended up doing a windows reinstall/repair and reinstalling a newer version of Nero. Not sure if just a reinstall of nero would have solved the problem since I did that last.

Doing a repair on windows brought me from 2x to 2.9-3x. Reinstalling nero put me up to 40x+ (equivelent read speeds from the harddrives).

When running nero, instead of burning, do a speed test. This will tell you if it can read from your harddrives fast enough without using up blank DVD's.

Also try a program called "hdtach". The trial version will tell you how fast your harddrives are and will give you an idea if it is a hardware problem or software problem. good luck!
