Anyone had tried the new BETA rpc1 firmware for LG4040b? Its a cracked version based on LG fw A302 and its available at:

    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1628

I would like to known if it works right and which software is needed to control region number... Windows XP only can handle this changing region function?

    Sorry my poor english...
    Regards from Brazil,

    Nobody answered me!

Now the firmware is on the "Firmware that works" list, so itīs not a beta version anymore.

  3. I just tried it.. I always thought region free firmware would make it like my standalone... where it automatically plays anything i put in it.

but you have to go through the pain in the ass of resetting stuff.. to change regions.. but as often as i actually need to go from region 1 to region 2.. its not that bad.

but uhh i got DVD genie.. and i use that to set the region to 0.. which kinda make windows adopt the region of the next disk you put in.

if you don't want to reboot.. you use the set it to region 0 in dvd genie, go to hardware manager.. disable the drive.. wait a little bit.. enable the drive.. go the region option in the drives properties and wam.. you once again have 1 choice left to select a new region.

i use a hacked version of windows media player 6.4 to play any media called media player classic.. so i couldn't use dvd genie to set this all up automatically which is too bad.

    but the patch works.

  4. an updated note.. i just rolled back to the regular 302. Installed DVD Region-Free and like it much better. None of the switching settings everytime i wanna watch a DVD. It does everything.. so it doesn't matter which regions i switch between.

I find it more convenient. if you're wary about hacked firmware.. give it a go.
