  1. What i want:

Take 2 DVD movies, import them as VOB files.
Shrink the size of both movies to fit one DVDR.
Add a menu for selecting the movies (title) and their chapters.
Keep 1 subtitle steam per movie.

And it would be nice to be able to:
Use multiple audio streams and/or multiple subtitle streams

I am trying and trying for weeks now and there doesn't seem to be one DVD authoring program that does all of the following:

    - Import VOB files, so actually re-author a DVD (this makes 90% of the available programs useless)
    - Re-encode data to shrink both movies to fit them on 1 DVDR
    - Support multiple subtitle streams
    - Support multiple audio streams
    - Create your own custom menu for selecting titles and chapters.

What i have accomplished so far:

    Using:
    -TMPG DVD Author
    -DVDShrink
Import 2 DVD's in TMPG DVD Author and add a nice menu, but no subs. Then recode in DVDShrink to fit one DVDR.

I have tried dozens of programs from pinnacle, ulead, adobe, sonic etc, but they generally aren't suited for re-authoring multiple DVD's (importing VOB files).

So either i have a DVD with no menu when using DVDShrink only, or i have a DVD with no subs after using TMPG DVD Author!!

    Anybody has a working solution?

  2. Ok, now i am trying to use DVDLab.

    Problems:

    - Lost the subtitles!! Same stupid thing as with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

    - Doesn't understand that VTS_01_0, _1, _2, ... don't have to be timeconsumingly joined to use them in the project. You cannot just put them behind eachother in one movie window.

    - Joining more than two VOB's also didn't work, it only joined two of them and left the third one seperate.

Come on, isn't there ANY program that re-authors DVD's? I mean, you have to pay $100 for a program that does only HALF the work???

  3. what you can do is strip the subtitles from the movie using ifoedit or dvd decryptor and add them after you've authored the dvd.

so shrink both dvd's into one.
    strip the subtitle streams
    author the dvd
use the guides on how to add subtitles to dvd's.
    burn your new dvd.
