  1. Could I just ask a simple question, and then promise to climb back in my hole.
I need help with cutting out the commercials from the first film I’ve recorded on a Philips DVDR 70. bought a week ago. My hope is that I can do this on the PC when I have swapped the CDROM for a DVDRW.
    Where do I start? Thanks.

As I know nothing about the hardware you've used to record I'm going to guess it's captured to mpeg2/DVD format.
You may find some help clicking here.
Good luck and please, stay out of the hole

TMPGEnc DVD Author, click add dvd video. Use the built-in cutting tool and reauthor and burn.

  4. Hi Will,
Had a look at the site you suggested. Although it looks good, I am not sure if the Womble mpeg2-vcr application software will do the job or not. My video recorder is a DVD +RW. Would that program edit +RW discs?
    Thanks

You will need to import the files to your computer then cut the video or commercial out the re-author/encode the DVD files and do a new burn to DVD+RW or DVD+R.
