Got a LDW-411s. Flashed firmware to version FS0H. It will burn CDR/CDRW/DVD+R/DVD+RW. When I try DVD-R, Nero crashes at the burn initiation phase, "Caching of files." I've tried Imation and Memorex discs and tried the lowest burn speed possible. Have not been able to successfully burn a DVD-R disc yet. Any help/suggestions?
Thanks!

Can anyone point me to where I can find the utility to flash the drive back to FS0F? Or anybody have any info on the more recent FS0J version?
Thanks for the replies! -
Do you mean FSOG, which has been yanked, or FSOH, which is still on LiteOn's site.
Or is there actually a "J" somewhere else?
I do believe people have said they have flashed "down" with an older version, though LiteOn says it is undoable. Not going to try it on either of mine.
Good Luck,
George
BTW, do you mean FSOG? As the older version. I have it on my drive, saved both as Zip and .exe. If that is what you want, I could mail it to you. -
hey pharlap
i was thinking of getting this ldw 411S in about 1 week from now, now i hear there are dvd-r problems?...... i currently own the ldw 451s with latest firmware, it has no problems burning TDK dvd-r.
will the ldw 411s burn TDK dvd-r?
oh yea, the ldw 451s will not burn my sony dvd-rw discs... it just keeps burning the leadout, even hours later, it isnt complete, having to power off the pc. -
Was wondering if any LDW-411S users out there might still have a copy of the FS0F firmware or point to where I can find it? It's no longer available at LiteOn's site. If possible, please email to me.

I gave the LDW - 411S to my daughter for christmas. She uses Memorex DVD-R 4X at 2X speed. She has the FS0H and she did have the FS0G.
She hasn't been telling me about any complaints.
She also uses Ritek ... she just recently bought a 25 pack of Ritek from PCClub. www.pcclub.com She paid $20 bucks for a 25 pack.
They were $20 bucks for a 25 pack [orange label] ... but if you go there now ... the price is $25.
Here is the info on these Ritek DVD-Rs from DvdinfoPro
Standby ... need to reboot
Hmm ... that was wierd ... AnyDVD was turned off [I turned it off] ... I started it up without rebooting and now my DVDs are visible again.
Anyways ... here is the info

If you want to get back to FSOF try the lite-on forum at CD Freaks. Their is a sticky with several utilities, one of which is to patch the updater to allow you to flash backwards. You should have no difficulty locating firmware either.
Also while your there, look into some recent investigations are showing that the problem with FSOH may not be with burning but with reading -R discs before you decide if this is the route you want to take.
Also Also, I agree with the poster who said try something other than Memorex or Imation. I've read of countless problems using those brands of discs (see also the DVD Media reviews on this site). They are apperently very inconsistant in terms of quality. -
FSOJ is on LiteOn site.
Maybe be a better option. Supports Bitsetting, etc.
Do have FSOF if you still need it.
Cheers,
George -
LiteOn now hs it's own bitsetting tool, compatible with the new J firmware for the 411s.

Thanks all for your help! Apparently, there are some others that have a problem burning -R media with Nero. Will troubleshoot some more and report back.
Thanks again!
