Do I need to partition the second drive? Not sure how to procede. Thanks

  2. Nope

You can leave it as one giant drive. I would break it up though. I have a 120gig drive with 3 partitions, PICTURES, MP3's/music, and one for DVD ripping work space.

  3. The new drive will have to contain some sort of partition, otherwise you will not be able to format it. Whether it is 1 big partition or 2 smaller ones is up to you. I would recommend you partition it as 1 drive partition and format using NTFS. If you try to partition and format as FAT32 w/ XP, you will be limited to a 32GB partition. NTFS does not have this limitation.
