I have new ZR 70...and Dell 600M... windows XP with Movie Maker and a firewire.
I'm not sure what else I need.? When I hook everything together my computer does not recognize the camcorder..or anything.
Using a USB I can download pictures etc...of the memory stick no problem.
I feel like I'm missing something..?

You need a Firewire card on your computer, a compatible Firewire cable to go from the camera to the computer and a program to transfer the files to your computer. Two popular programs are; DVIO and WinDV. That's about it for starts. The DV avi file can be fed to an encoder like TMPGEnc and then to an authoring program like TMPGEnc Author, then burnt to DVD. More than that, you need to study the 'Guides' to the left side of this site.
EDIT: You have a Dell. You might search around this site a little as it seems some people have had DV problems with Dell computers. -
thanks redwudz

I purchased a ADS Tech dual link Card bus because I did not have a firewire port on the computer. This a card thing that slides in, is that what you are talking about when you say a Firewire Card...?
or do I need to buy something else...? I'm runnin out of places to plug things in...
