  1. I have a huge problem that is driving me crazy! I use Windows movie maker to capture analog video to AVI using a canopus ADVC-100. After capturing, I then use Tmpgenc to encode to DVD compliant video. After that I used Tmpgenc author to author my disk and save my VOB files to hard drive. The problem I'm having is that there is no sound being played when I play the files off my hard drive.

The AVI and mpg files play sound with no problem. It only happens when I try to play my authored files. Please help as I'm at my wits end!!!!!

  5. I notice my software DVD player is telling me the language is unknown. Somehow the authoring is stripping the language flag???

  6. What is the format of the sound encoded on the DVD?

  7. I used Tmpgenc's built in engine to encode both the video and audio so it's all contained in one .mpg file. I have done it this way before when capturing directly from my DV camera and it worked just fine. Now I'm capturing from a VCR using the Canopus ADVC-100

  8. Had a similar problem with no sound while using vcy -> advc 100 -> computer setup...
Found cause to be incorrect vcr tracking setting - adjusted that and all was fine.

  9. I was asking that because I had a similar problem with PCM audio. If itīs mpeg or ac3 itīs ok but if itīs PCM that might be the problem.

Perhaps you should try PowerDVD or WinDVD...

I would also try sacrificing a disk and seeing how it plays on your settop...

    Sorry...

  11. Well I tried burning to a DVD anyway just to see and it worked fine. The sound was there when layed on my set top as well as my PC. I have no idea why there was no sound when played off my hard drive. Very weird.

Scary isn't it. It happened to me the other day, and I believe I had read a post in where somehow the .VOB isn't properly understood by the software.
I'm by no means understand the inner workings of .IFO's and .VOB's, so if anybody could explain why this happens??
