I use moviefactory 3 to add chapters, transitions, motion menus, & scores of other things to my pre-recorded mpeg files before converting it to vob files.
Now, i’m aware that I have to select the "DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIENT MPEG FILES" in the project setting as well as " CHANGE MPEG SETTING" to customize the program's property so its equal to my pre-recorded mpeg files property in order to prevent unnecessary re-encoding, but it seems the program still re-encode my compliant mpeg files.
For what its worth I use ATI MMC 8.8 to record my mpeg files at various COMPLIANT bit rates, TMPGEnc's MPEG Tool's feature to Cut & Merge my mpeg as well as run my mpeg files through to make them completely compliant. I also use DVD Patcher ONLY to view the property of my pre-recorded mpeg file to ensure that the mpeg file are compliant.
I have used this same format above to flawlessly produce materials in MovieFactory 2 but it seems either there is something i'm missing with this new version or something else.
Any info to help me resolve this issue is greatly appreciated.

Use of the video *editing* tools (the Multi-Trim Video tool in particular) in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.0 results in re-encoding of source media in spite of precise matching of project settings to properties and in spite of checking the DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIANT FILES check box.
At least, that has been my experience so far using AC-3 MPEGs recorded by my Toshiba D-R1.
Consequently, I don't use the editing tools in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.0 unless my source files are DV .avi files, which have to be re-encoded to be MPEG-2 anyway.
For editing of MPEG files with Smart Rendering, I use either Ulead VideoStudio or Ulead MediaStudio Pro.
