  1. What is a good All-in-One Software package that will let me make capture home movies from a digital camcorder, edit the movie, encode the movie, and put it onto DVD.....

Price is important. I do not have TOO much to spend....

    Thanks...

I have Nero and it just plain sucks in this department.....

Sonic MyDVD will do all that. Some folks think this software sucks, but for the price and functionality I think it's good.

  3. You can do more with the free tools out there than spending money on an all-in-one solution.

95% of the people on this site will probably tell you that the best thing to do is to get the right tools for the right job. All-in-ones are not it.

  4. MyDVD 4.x came with my Sony drive, and Sony has been giving free upgrade of that program, though LE version, to Sony owners. The latest version 5.23 I have in my W2K system does 2 channel Dolby Digital encoding, which helps save disc space. Rather picky on file compliance, but I have been quite happy with it, since majority of my discs are home videos and slides. Again, it's been free in my case.

If I have to pay my choice will be TMPG DVD Author, which I had played with for over 3 weeks, but gotta go with AC3 plugin, now that I have a taste of it.

  5. last time i use sonic my dvd was when they were converting your audio to pcm. so if now its being converted to 2 channel Dolby Digital then maybe that software is worth using then.

Don't. They all suck. Seriously. Get software for each task.
