  1. Im interested in hearing who likes the good ol' stable 5 version and who prefers the most up-to-date software. Personally i have 6.3.0.2 but im considering going back to 5.5.10.54 because its very light, stable, free of bloatware, does a great job and doesn't need an upgrade every 3 weeks for bugs found.

I have 5.5.10.54 and I don't plan on upgrading. It's stable and it works.

  5. Exactly, if it aint broke dont fix it. I wonder if theres anything 6 does that 5 wont do?
I for one am just really pissed off that there has to be a new nero released every 3 weeks or so..Its getting really old, just a few days ago we had 6.3.0.2 and now theres a whole new 15 meg 6.3.0.3
The coolest part about 5 is that you can edit the registry so it will show you the Real burn speed..Not sure if thats been figured out in 6.
Doesnt even have a wizard in nero 6..Kinda odd.

Is there somewhere on nero's site that says exactly what has been updated with the version history?

  6. I've had very good results with both versions, but I use the latest update to version 6 because it has Recode, which works great with DVDDecrypter to "back-uo" DVD's (at least for me)....

I ve had stability/coaster issues with Nero version 6.x.x on a win2K platform with Pioneer A-05 and Teac w50d burners.
I rolled back to 5.5.10.54 and its working just fine now!!

I still use 5.5.10.54. Works fine with all of my drives; No reason to change.

couldn't get nero 5.5.10 to work AT ALL with a NEC 1300A or a LG4040B (just wouldn't recognize either burner as a DVD or CD burner......) but no probs at all with 6.3.

Maybe multi-format burners are the reason for Nero 6?

For me 6.3 is the doggies..............but i said that about 5.5 when i was only burning CD's......horses for courses?

??couldn't get nero 5.5.10 to work AT ALL?/

I could not either, until I realised that I was using the Nero that came with my LiteOn, won't work with other makes.

5.5.10.54 works with the LG 4040b. Goto: http://www.nero.com/us/631933457317970.html

60 burns on Princo's at 4x and rising, all perfect. :P

  15. nero 5.5.x for cd burning (i also like the reghack for displaying real cd burn speeds)
    recordnow max/prassi for dvd burning

nero is just too inconsistent as far as dvd burning goes.

seems to me its the luck of the draw ( or hardware v software ) whe it comes to Nero.

But.... taking DVD rw's to one side....i find 6.3 make' s SVCDs and tricky cue/bins far better than 5.5....no more coasters............but, again, thats probably the way it is..........no rules.

Does anyone know if Nero 5.5 (or up) can have still menus and selectable subs and whatnot?

  19. I also use Nero 5.5 for CD / VCD burning, but wouldn't recommend it for DVD burning as it has a habit of producing incompatible burns.
