  1. Hi,

I just installed a Pinnacle Studio DV (Version 8 ) card into my machine, and it boots fine at first. Then, just like the manual says, Windows XP detects the new hardware and does it's thing. I then install the software on the CD, as per the manual.

However, in all subsequent boots, my machine goes straight into BIOS. If I then exit BIOS, I can boot normally.

Unfortunately, I have no way to test whether the card is working or not just now. I have tried changing the PCI slot it is mounted in, but the same thing happens.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

    Thanks very much,

  3. Thanks for the reply.

It's in a split-new computer too...... I know - my father and I just built it!

    Thanks again,

  5. The specifications are as follows:

    - Asus A7V8X-X motherboard
    - AMD Athlon XP2500+ Barton Core
    - 512MB PC3200 RAM
    - Leadtek WinFast A340 FX5200 128MB
    - Seagate Barracuda 120GB ATA133 7,200RPM
    - LiteOn 16x 40x DVD-ROM
    - LiteOn 4x DVD+/-RW
    - Windows XP Home, fully updated

It's a clean machine - just put together a couple of nights ago and fresh Windows on it.

That card is now going back to the store, and a replacement (a different card) is on the way. I'd just be interested to know what's going on...

    Thanks!

  6. One last question. Did you run windowsupdate.microsoft.com to get latest certified drivers ?

Or are you even interested in this or not ? Do you still have it ?

DV Card is just FireWire card. At least that was my understanding. Don't you have firewire port on mobo allready ?

  7. There is no FireWire built onto the mobo. You can see where it goes by reading the white text on the mobo, but it's absent.

No, we didn't try that. I'll stick put it in as soon as I can, and give it a shot.

    Thanks for the tip!
