  1. I have Neato's MediaFace program and want to make a DVD label that looks as similar as possible as the silk-screen types of company manufactured DVD's. What type of paper is the most similar: LaserGloss, High Gloss, Photomatte, Economatte, etc. (the others availableare fancy labels)?

What type of paper is best for a DVD label? Hmm, most people would say none at all. If you can't print straight onto the disk, don't bother. Sticking a label on a perfectly working DVD disk is the easiest way of turning it into a coaster

  3. I have to agree. I got the Neato system and I was really pleased with the results. Couldn't get enough of labelling all my old ones.

Put it has made them all not work properly in my DVD player. many of them do work perfectly in other people's players.

I read all the horror storeis on labels but I thought I would try as they look good.

Just don't do it. It is a waste of money.

  5. What type of CD/DVD printer do you suggest? All I know of is the Casio CD Title Printer. Can you print your own custom made labels made from other programs?

  6. Like Richard said, if you want something that will look good and not change the nechanics of your DVD, then you will need to use a CD/DVD printer.

Problem is, if you already have finished DVDs and they are not printables, then it's either, mark them with a marker or continue to use the lables.

The printers arer only going to work with disks with printable tops. For a future investment, that might be the way to go.

I on the other hand use a stencil and a marker. Cheap, effective.

The best quality DVD-R blanks you can get are from Taiyo-Yuden and they come in plain top (non-printable) as well as a SILVER top that is ink jet printable and a WHITE top that is ink jet printable.

You can get them from RIMA.COM

I think the WHITE TOP printable discs are about $2.00 each

They are 4x writing speed too!

  9. If you MUST label I use hub labels and have had very good results. http://www.surething.com/ST/Product.asp?ProdCode=20006

Burned 100+ with no probs. On the other hand out of every 25 +/- I would see issues when using full labels.

  10. The only labels I will use are IBM photo glossy cd/dvd labels, part #01P8195. When printed they look good as original. I currently get them at Fry's Electronics.
