I have been using HP Deskjet 656 printer without any problem with my Pentium III 800 PC with Win 98 SE. Suddenly yesterday it stopped working and when I unplugged the USB cord and plugged again the Inkjet Printer was identified as APOLLO P2500/2600 printer. When I installed the Apollo driver the printer does not work at all. What went wrong ?

I had an Apollo printer a few years ago. Must be a low cost subsidiary of HP as it used the same mechanisms and cartridges. Being that they are similar internally, the OS might think it was a different printer. I would just install the proper HP drivers for the model name. Actually, the driver is probably still there, check your control panel>printers(or the W98 equivalent) and make the HP the default. If it still doesn't work, check your USB/printer settings.
