I can't find anything specifically on this by searching the forums, but would like to know if the same compatibility will be achieved for playing your DVD-R discs in DVD players whichever DVD writer you use??

I read that there is a 92% compatibility for DVD-R discs in DVD players, but can this vary depending on the media and type of writer you use???

If so is there a writer and media that can be recommended as writing good discs. I'm looking at the Pioneer 106 / 107 or the NEC ND 1300 / 2500.

  2. Different media giving different compatibility, most definatley yes.

Different writers giving different compatibility, not come across that one as such though some writers appear to prefer certain types of media.

As to waht is best for you, it depends aon what you want to play your disks on.

I am planning to sell some of my DVD-r discs so I need a writer and type of media that would be compatible with most players. Preferably 92% but if not as many as possible otherwise people will be sending them back to me.

I've had good results with the Pioneer 106(1.07 Firmware) and Ritek G04 disks every player I've ever tried them on plays them without any problems . The writer is a very good one as well only making a few shiny frisbee's with all the media I've chucked at it .
