  1. The programs that came with Snazzi III USB2 are Movie Mill for capturing and InterVideo WinProducer 3 for editing.

I have a question regarding the format that Movie Mill captures in when I choose DVD MPEG2 quality. After installing Movie Mill I can watch the captured file fine in Windows Media Player and Movie Mill itself, but it won't open in Adobe Premiere or InterVideo WinProducer 3 so I can edit it. Are there codecs I need to download in order for the MPEG2 files to be viewable with these programs?

I would also like to add that the format I set Movie Mill to capture in is the same every time, but sometimes the MPEG2 file will open in WinProducer and sometimes it won't. It seems like something random is happening even though I do the exact same thing every time.

Adobe Premiere does not edit mpeg2 files (very well or more often, not at all, depending on version) , plus mpeg is not really made for editing in the sense of video editing ...

  3. I'm really more concerned that I can't edit in WinProducer3 since that's the program that came with Snazzi specifically for editing the things that I capture. Sorry, I didn't really mean editing as in adding effects and such, I'm just taking out the commercials.

    Hi justified,

I'm not familiar with "InterVideo WinProducer 3", so can't comment. However, I have seen quite a few people saying that they highly rate "Womble MPEG VCR" for MPEG editing.

Failing that, capture in AVI (if you can) and use Adobe Premiere. Editing AVI is much easier and safer.

    Hope that helps...

  5. I'm giving Womble a try and it seems to be really fast but for some reason when I cut something the audio goes out of sync? Same with VirtualDub MPEG2. Also the output quality for VCD isn't that great.

Thats why you shouldn't edit MPEG2. It is very difficult, if not impossible to even do simple cuts and joins. Like others have said, capture in AVI, then convert to MPEG

Weird. I've seen people reporting this problem when editing MPEG's with other tools, and have been recommended to use Womble. They (all, I think) came back with positive results.

Have a search in the forums - it might be that you're missing something or it's something to do with the MPEG itself.

I'd still recommend capturing in AVI over MPEG (have you tried? are you able?) if you're planning on editing (even simple cutting) - especially as it seems you've got Adobe Premiere. I use TMPGEnc to then encode to MPEG2 having exported DV AVI from Premiere.

    Good luck...
