  1. I have been using Dreamweaver to try and make webpages, but its obvious that this isn't enough. I want to make a professional homepage. What does everyone recommend. I am willing to put time and money into getting the necessary software.

Oh...and does it take a long time to know how to use Macromedia Flash. I tried their trial version, but it seemed pretty hard. Does it get easier over time??

Nothing wrong with Dreamweaver actually. Plus it integrates easy with the other Macromedia products like Fireworks and Flash. Or I could give you the standard net answer of "NOTEPAD.EXE" but then I'm not one to talk, I dont know but a little actual HTML. Enough to make something in Dreamweaver, look at the code and know whats going on.

Flash has a big learning curve, easier over time? Anything hard gets easier if you learn.

I like Adobe GoLive - I found Dreamweaver too confusing to get really deep in it. GoLive was a bit more user friendly.

I do bust out Notepad frequently, though... learning to code by hand has come in very handy over the years...

  10. Notepad sux, use Home site.

You will never get really good results with wysiwyg editors, you need to learn html and write it yourself....

I bought a macromedia package earlier and it had flash, fireworks, and dreamweaver. I love dreamwever...its easy and if you learn some tricks, you can easily make a professional page. If you dont know html, you can do it in dreamweaver and look at the code and learn how its really done. I know very little html and that's how I learned.

As for flash...I think it does get easier but its REALLY time consuming.

    Notepad rules. So does Dreamweaver.

It all depends on your experience with HTML and with the software at hand.

  13. What exactly "rules" about notepad? It has no tag color coding, no snippets, no spell check, no line numbering no nothing.....

Homesite rules, the rest just suck LOL

Notepad is noteworthy due to it's simplicity, and gee, how has simple yet popular been exemplified lately.
