I've always enjoyed visiting this site to learn, discover and to be occaissionally amazed. However, it has now become apparent that the cost of DVD recorders has dropped so much and allowed too many no brain, 'I'm in it for a quick buck' characters access to backing up (loose phrase) their DVDs. I'm tired of crawling through the chaff to find any sort of wheat, particularly as you only have to look on the left to find most answers (Baldrick must have a saintly constitution).
So farewell and thanks for all the help that I've picked up over the last few years.

Just because you joined the forum on a specific date doesn't mean that's the day you found the site.
Not all of us post the second we arrive.

My thanks to ALL the guide/article creators and posters... with out you I'd be what the original poster is trying to get away from...
Even with my lack of experience in this field, some of the thread creators kill me with the @#$% they ask for... -

ckdexterhn1,
I'm sure it will shock a lot of people but not everybody who uses this board makes DVD's or gives a crap about menu's.
You must know the original poster personally because I couldn't see anything in his post about him using a DVD recorder? -
feenix,
Lighten up! The reply, as many of the other comments of this thread was meant as tongue in cheek. Have a quick laugh and move on.
I could understand being serious if the original post was from tpgo or from someone who has made a lasting impression on these boards. Of course he'll be back, for whatever reason! This site has too much wealth of information for anyone with even a mild interest in DVD creation to just walk away! -
Sorry ckdexterhn1 - Blame a godawful humour-killing toothache!
Just thought the guy had a point is all. Whether he's contributed or not doesn't make it less relevant. -

My point (kind of) was to question why he should post a "farewell" letter. The fact that he rarely posted and didn't really become a deeply embedded member of this community, yet whines about the newbz, makes him almost as bad as them.
If you've been interacting with the "regulars" on this board for a while, maybe a nice farewell to them would be appropriate (though it should be in PM, if you feel that strongly).
EVERY board has the newbs and jerks. Game boards have the "how do I copy/ where can I get game x?" people; Animation boards have the "Anime/Disney suck!" people; PC support boards have the "Where's the any key?" people. The fact is, things in life are not always easy, and people are sometimes difficult to deal with. At least on a message board, you don't have to deal with them face-to-face, so it's a little easier to do.
My suggestion is, if you like this place enough, just deal with it. If someone is being an obvious pain and needs a little RTFM, then by all means, tell them to RTFM. If you have a specific problem not covered in the guides, do a search or post the question. Simple.
Lastly, why does there HAVE to be a lot of top notch posts? Go to the movies, dinner, walking (bowling) if you want entertainment. people are here to learn or give advice about what they're interests. Sometimes they're not the same as yours (or mine). I probably check this site once a day, but I don't read or post anything that frequently.

me thinks, you take the whole thing too serious, and wrote up a dissertation on a non important post

Actually you can tell a noob by how many posts they have in the amount of time they been here, other then mods.
