  1. I recently purchased a 25 pk spindle (from amazon) and a 50 pk spindle (from bestbuy) of Memorex DVD-R disks and out of the 75 I had 28 failures. I have the Sony Writer and these were burned at 4x. The disks were 4X ratedl. I was not happy to have wasted $30.00 so I went to the memorex site and they have a form you can fill out and let them know the failure rate. I did this and 2 weeks later I got a new 50pk spindle as a replacement. I did not need to ship the bad ones back either.

I have since started using TDK as well as Fuji and have had no problems.

So if you have had a bad experience with memorex disks visit there site and fill out the form.

  6. Gotta be careful with their DVD-R discs, no question about it. If you burn them above 1X, regardless of their speed rating, you could be asking for trouble. Been there, done that.

What is the ID Code for those spindled discs?

  7. I had an entire 25 disk spindle of Memorex CD-RW's fail on me, while TDK's, and any other disk have worked fine. Not knowing they'd replace them, I threw them out, so I'm probably screwed. I filled out the form anyway, if for no other reason than to tell them I'd never buy another Memorex product again.

I never have had good results from them, going way back to their audio cassettes, which always jammed on me, so I'm not surprised. I guess nowadays it depends on which brand they're remarking as their own....

  8. I brougtht the 50 pack(4x) from Best Buy about 2 weeks ago when they were $49.99. It was my first time using Memorex. I am about half way through the pack and had 1 coaster, 1 get an error at the end when the disk was finalizing. Besides from that they have been woking fine at 2x & 4x. I'm using a Sony 500a.

I bought some awhile back ... two in a row became coasters.

My solution ... burn at 2X instead of 4X

Or get a 25 pack of orange labeled Ritek at PCClub ... price is $20 bucks.
