    Hi,

I have a NEC 1300a, working very well. However it may be nice to upgrade to 2500a, since price is so low. But I have a question, if there is no 8x DVD-R on the market now, then how do I know the 2500a firmware is going to be able to handle the furture 8x media when it is available?

  2. Actually the NEC ND-2500A is the only DVD burner currently on the market that is able to burn certain 4X DVD-R discs (TYG01 and MCC01RG20) at 8X, actually 4x to 6X then 8X in the Zone-CLV mode. You can get the TYG01 discs as 10-pack jewel cased Fujifilm 4X DVD-R, which is on sale this week at BestBuy as mentioned in the following:

  3. I had the 1300a and upgraded to the 2500a. It burns 4x verbatim datalifeplus (MCC) dvd-rs at 8x. According to the the review at cdfreaks.com, it'll also burn taiyo yuden 4xs at 8x.
