  1. Anybody buy these from newegg before?

    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-132-315&catalog=71&manufa...pa=0&section=1

$49 and free shipping for 50 ritek discs sounds too good to be true.

I know these are OEM discs, but what does that mean? Are they crap? Are they good? Are they factory rejects or grade q or something?

I have always bought OEM pieces for my computer (who needs the box, or drivers, or manual).. But never OEM media

I am currently down to my last 10 TDK 4x +R's RicohJPNR's, jewel cased for $1.20 each (I should have bought the entire store of them, they are awesome) but they are back up to over $2.40/each

  2. Hey i bought these and am receiving them today. I will let you knoe how they burn. I will check them on my Plextor 708A,LiteOn 811S, Pioneer A06, and the NEC2500. I will let you know how they burn.

  3. In this case, OEM probably means totally unbranded. But brand alone does not a disc make... if they are genuine Ritek's I'm sure you will be happy with them.

Does anyone know about these ones?

    DRD-47-4X-RD-IW

They are the ones right below the ones the previous poster linked to. They are $52.99 for 50. The one comment says they are printable. Can anyone verify that these are printable? Seems like a good deal if they are.

Those are the ones I use. RITEK G04 . So far 1 coaster out of 130 burns, which is about as good as it gets. 12/12 on verifying after burning.

  7. I just got a 50 pack of these from Newegg yesterday with my new NEC ND-2500A. They were on sale for $46.50, when I ordered. So far they work great with my drive. They are Ridata brand G04 (confirmed by media code) with purple dye. I haven't had a single bad disk yet.

One note, you do need to have an empty spindle, because this 50 pack doesnt come with a spindle case, it's just DVDs only in shrinkwrap.

I think you just answered the main question that titio13kfm was asking

"I know these are OEM discs, but what does that mean? Are they crap? Are they good? Are they factory rejects or grade q or something?

The OEM to by best knowledge (for what its worth) would mean no spindle just the pack of DVD's (to save on costs of course)

Maybe others who have bought these can confirm...

I always buy my hardware from newegg & if these are infact the real Riteks (with the RiData label & Matte finish) I will probably buy my DVD's from there also. I've had great success w/ Newegg & would love to continue to support a company that is as good as them.

I too have got mine from Meritline b4 but have not had good luck w/ my newest batch of 50... They do not have the RiData label or the Matte finish... I burned 11 disks and have 11 new coasters... The first batch I got from them worked great... time to see how thier customer service is.. they claim 100% satisfaction w/ the G04's

Thats sounds bad man. I am sure meritline will take care of you.

I have not ever bought the 50 pack from meritline. I always purchased to 25pack (3 times - I ordered from them) and not 1 ever was a coaster.

Now my coasters are lookng like memorex CmCs. lol

What did you get when you purchased though... did you get the ones w/ the Ridata logo printed in the middle of the disk??? & what did the finish look like??? The ones I got this time that don't work so not have the logo & are just a plain shiny finish... The pack I got the first time was only a 25 pack in just plastic no spindle

  14. Can you look on the center of the disk & see if it has a small logo (RiData) printed on there?

    Bucs,
I did some research and as far as I can tell the ones that end in IW are Inkjet Writable (printable). If you don't have a printer capable of printing to dvds you can just buy the other ones as they are cheaper.

  23. AHHHH.... Sounds like the SM would then stand for (SilverMatte) .... maybe ... or (SilverMettalic) ... Hopefully they stand for Matte ...

Either way I guess would work as long as they have the RiData logo ...

Maybe MANCO can elaberate on the ones he ordered as he stated

OK. I emailed newegg and was told that they were not given the information that the DRD-47-4X-RD-IW were inkjet printable, but they gave me the number to Ritek/RiData. I called them and was told the following...

DRD-47-4X-RD-IW ... IW means Inkjet White, so they are inkjet printable

DRD-47-4X-RDSM ... SM means Silver Matte

Hope this helps people in the future . The Ritek woman said she would contact newegg and "educate" them about the products. I am also going to email newegg, so hopefully they put this information with the product listings soon.
