I've backed up some of my DVDs with Memorex 2.4x DVD+R discs and DVD Shrink 3.1.4.
All movies played perfect on my DVD player except one, Finding Nemo, which had some glitches. However, on another DVD player, the movies would have point where they'd become choppy and/or blocky.
I'm wondering if it is the DVD player, the DVD's or is this something that happens with DVD Shrink backups.

Memorex DVD+R 2.4X discs are (generally) RICOHJPNR00 ID-coded, since I've not seen any other ID appear on thses discs. Ricoh-based discs are generally very good quality. I myself purchased a lot of these discs from Wal-Mart last fall and never had any problems, and many of those were distributed to family and friends.
Given the disc in question, I'd lean more to a player issue and not a media issue. Can you post the Media ID for, say, the Finding Nemo disc and see if it is a RICOHJPNR00?
EDIT: See parenthesis. -
Similar discs but RW. I use Memorex (RICOHJPNW01) DVD+RW 2.4x all the time. I bought 24 discs and cycle some of them frequently and have yet to have a problem. Had issues with the Memorex 1x DVD-RW but brought those back to the store.

This is where I become a noob... I believe the ID is in this code somewhere:
C+DR47G-AFW031 0309
MY DVD player is a Pioneer DV-C505, and only the nemo disc had issues... where as the other DVD player was an old Hitachi (2000 model) with a firmware update, this is also the player that has been having the chopiness and block problems with most of my other backups.
The Nemo disc problems start near the end of the movie, so I'm pretty sure it's because the out area of the disc is flawed. I've checked for scratches, dust & finger prints and it has niether... -
Just use dvdinfo pro and click on the media tab and you'll see the code.

Crap, these were the only DVD+R's that came in an actual DVD case... I wonder if this the manufacturer that the Canadian branch of memorex uses, I really hope not....
-
Ah! I've never purchased the DVD+Rs in the big cases, only the jewel cases.
-
Well, that explains why they were on sale at Futureshop... I've just checked my Memorex DVD+RW's and they are RICOHJPNW01...
Well, anyone know where I can purchase some Empty DVD cases?
Here's the link to the DVD's I purchased at Futureshop, a little FYI so others don't get duped into buying them like I did...

allmediaoutlet.com has both the single and double DVD cases, in regular and slimline sizes...

I hope you didn't pay $39.99 for 10 as shown in your link. I just missed the Futureshop sale last Monday and they were 5 for $9.99 ca. I was sorry cause I have never used DVD+R in my drive cause they are always overpriced and wanted some to try since these were finally well priced.
I'm glad I missed the sale because I would have expected RicohJPN discs. -
Worse, I bought two 10 packs... I spent $91 on them, and now I find out they are bad quality DVDs...
Well, you live and learn I guess.
I stick with DVD+R/RW cause they are the most compatible discs for my DVD players, and the fact that my burner only supports them, HP DVD Writer 200i.
Mind you, it is to be expected from Futureshop, considering they usually only get the Low end of the High Tech (points at NEC MultiSync LCD1555V moniter purchased last year...). I also wrote a review on the product at the Futureshop website, I just hope they post it so others don't make the same mistake I did. -
PlasticDVDr,
I just saw in another thread that you can request replacement from Memorex. Check out this link: www.memorex.com, select your region and then go to their Service and Support/Technical support forum and file a complaint.
This wasn't the thread I was thinking of, https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t196153.html, but s/he appears to have gotten service from them.
Might be worth an e-mail to them? -
Well, I just sent Memorex a complaint and hopefully I will be able to exchange my un-opened discs for better quality ones.

I wonder what your local store could do for you. Do you have to deal with the internet site for complaint? In either case I wouldn't hesitate to let them know and ask them how they can fix it for you.
I buy from the local Futureshop stores because they take back anything that doesn't work without a hassle within 30 days. I brought back bulk 25 pack leaddata and memorex 1x -rw. They even exchanged the 1x for 2.4 DVD+RW discs that were more expensive at the lower price just because I asked. I don't know what they would do if I wrote on 10 -/+ R discs and then asked for my money back but I suspect they would do it based on my past experience with them. -
Well, I shop at the futureshop by my work (Richmond Hill @ Young & 16th Ave if you know the area/city) and I've only opened the shrink wrap for one of the packs so I should be able to get my money back for them, as far as the other pack, I've used 4 of them so I won't be able to exchange the rest from that pack.
Ya, they love me at that location. I once returned 2 laptops and a desktop all within 6 hours of purchase. I purchased the first laptop, exchanged that for a better one, only to exchange that for a desktop and once again exchanged that for an even better desktop which is sitting on my desk now...)
