I have 3 computers that I want to use a DVD-burner for, so I'm thinking about buying a Pioneer a06 or TDK DVD burner and putting it in a 3rd party external USB/Firewire enclosure. Anybody had problems with external drives or this kind of setup?

Just bought a Pioneer 106D, put it in an FW/USB2 enclosure and no problems at all burning DVDs on Win98SE desktop, Win XP laptop and Win2K Pro desktop.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Just make sure you got it on a firewire, not USB 2.0, otherwise you will get slower burning speeds. And you can bring it over to friends houses and stuff too if you want.

You might be able to hook it up to all three, sort of like a network printer, only its a network DVD burner.
