  1. I've used the latest Nero to author a video dvd from an mpg I created with Premiere. It is only 24 minutes long and 1 chapter. It plays just fine on the dvd player on my pc but when I play it on my Pioneer, it trys to go to chapter 1 but just stutters and won't actually play. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

  4. I'm using +RW right now. I just want to perfect my project before comitting to an R disc. From the digging i've done on the 'net, apparently my Pioneer supports +-R, & +-RW.

What I mean is, what brand of media. I found out the hard way that it does not pay to use cheap media, spent hours thinking it was a problem with software or setting before I found that the answer was cheapo discs.

Funny you should ask about this. I burned a disc last night on a used RW disc and tried to play it on my standalone last night and it had problems playing (hangs, skips, etc.). This morning I checked the VOBs on the hard drive using a VOB player on the computer and they appeared to be fine, so I burned them to a new -R disc and the disc played fine on my standalone. Maybe it's just your -RW...

I was going to ask "How many times are you supposed to be able to re-burn an -RW disc" but thought I'd read the guides first...

  8. Thanks. I'll have to check the package but they are either TDK's or Maxell's. Either way, a brand name for sure. Not sure how many times I've re-burned the RW but it is less than 10. Is there a guide somewhere that spells it out? Good to know I'm not the lone one with this problem.

  9. I just checked and I was using Memorex +RW's. I thought maybe my Pioneer doesn't like RW's or maybe it's the + thing, so I tried a Maxell -R and SAME PROBLEM! Could it be that it doesn't like the constant bit rate or the sampling rate of 8000 I used when I created the mpg with Premiere? I'm stumped.

  11. I think the media is a decent quality. I don't know what to try next. Anyone . . .?

No Memorex is not good media but never the less, I've had two Pioneer players and none played +RW. I think the proplem can be fixed by changing the booktype to RAM but since I have a NEC burner and can't change the booktype I can't verivy that. -RW, -R and +R plays like a charm. (Even Memorex even if they're crap).
