I'd like to re-author a DVD and add menus etc. in DVDLab. I ripped the original DVD, but DVDLab won't let me use the vobs. Something about there being a previous file missing, and indexes that don't start at zero. How can I fix this, and what software should I use?

I've used dvd-lab a bit and created chapters and simple menus with a audio music but I'm no expert. I was mainly testing the features although my DVD turned out ok. I created a 2 movie DVD. The main menu has 4 options (2 each movie) to select play the movie or a selection to open a chapter menu for each movie.

You should be able to choose not to demultiplex and also to join the vob files into 1 file.

Did you just rip the main movie?

Some features may be version dependent so may help others if you give your versions.

This was a home movie I authored awhile back when I was still a newbie - the "main movie" consisted of 3 vobs. DVDLab had a problem with me joining the vobs without demuxing - something about a previous file being missing. After several hours I think I figured it out. Here's what I did:
    - Demuxed the vobs in VobEdit (freeware), which gave me an m2v video file and a raw PCM audio file.
    - The raw PCM file didn't work in DVDLab either.
    - Converted the raw PCM file to mp2 in BeSweet.
    - One mp2 still didn't work in DVDLab, so I re-encoded the PCM as an MP3 in CoolEdit, then re-encoded to mp2 again in BeSweet. Not sure why this worked, but it did. I didn't care too much about losing some audio quality, and going though all this crap consumed a whole weekend.

If there's an easier way to do this, please reply!

  5. Yes, i can choose not to demultiplex, but theres no option to join all vob files into one. how would i go about doing that? by dragging vob files 1 to 4 into the my assets window and it will give me an option? or should i drag one of the other DVD files in, like the .ifo, or the .vob for the menu?

Im using version 1.1. some other version have that capability?
